Modeling and safety

It is important to discuss the safety for models just starting out. You may feel intimated. It can be overwhelming as to what is expected and normal for a photo shoot in the industry, I will give some basics here. Check the photographer's references. Having an open discussion before a photo shoot is good to determine who you are dealing with. I prefer a phone call over a text, but having photo shoot details in text or email is also good to have on file. Determining the theme of the photo shoot and a vision board is also crucial to see if you are in agreement with that and your comfort level. If not, do not proceed further. Or, ask if it is ok to bring a friend with you. And, I will just say this, if the photographer does not welcome you bringing someone, this is a huge red flag. These are just some basic principles to keep in mind. Never do anything you aren't feeling comfortable with. Know when to say no and respectfully decline if necessary. And, if you do decide that you are ok with what was discussed for the photo shoot, leave the location address with a friend before you go.
